Fortress Königstein

Fortress Königstein is one of the most important tourist sites in Germany and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. THIEL Public Relations manages national media and PR campaigns for the renowned fortress and castle.

The 9.5-hectare historic fortress Königstein gets its name from its mountaintop location in the heart of Saxon Switzerland. The surrounding region, Bastei Bridge and Fortress Königstein rank 35 on the list of the top tourist attractions in Germany compiled by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB). THIEL Public Relations (TPR), the Dresden agency specializing in PR for tourism destinations, was appointed to manage media and PR for this premium visitor attraction.

TPR developed a PR concept and strategic plan for Fortress Königstein. Planned activities include setting up an online press database with image gallery, writing and publishing press releases for specific target groups, basic PR updates and copy-editing, photojournalist event reports as well as organising and hosting press conferences and briefings at the fortress.

The fortifications, which were once regarded as impenetrable, comprise a unique ensemble of over 50 imposing buildings from various historical epochs. The fortress and castle’s records date back over 700 years and were on display in a range of exhibitions. Every year this venue attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world.
