The pioneering regions in accessible tourism in Germany have appointed THIEL PR to support the communication of their shared mission.
Ten German holiday regions and cities are working together as the association “Leichter Reisen – Accessible Holiday Destinations in Germany” to develop travel offers for people with mobility impairments, hearing or visual impairments, deaf and blind travellers, as well as families and senior travellers. To strengthen its media profile, the association has commissioned THIEL PR to provide accompanying media relations.
The working group was founded in 2008 by the city of Erfurt and the regions of Eifel, Franconian Lake District, Langeoog Island, Ruppiner Seenland and Saxon Switzerland. Later, the Lusatian Lakeland, the Southern Wine Route and the cities of Magdeburg and Rostock joined the initiative. East Frisia subsequently replaced Langeoog Island as a member.
The association’s core objective is to further develop accessible tourism in its member cities and regions, as well as in Germany as a whole. It aims to provide a platform for networking and regular exchange between the regions, enable joint marketing activities and intensify nationwide cooperation with politics, administration and associations. The initiative already maintains strong partnerships with the German National Tourist Board and Deutsche Bahn.
One of the association’s key communication channels is its website, which is regularly updated with current content by the member regions and cities. The initiative also presents itself at trade fairs. With the renewed appointment of THIEL PR, continuous media relations are to be further expanded as a core pillar of the communication strategy.
THIEL PR has supported the association for several years and is pleased to continue the collaboration. The working group brings together forward-looking tourism regions committed to a topic that is becoming increasingly important. We are glad to support this work with conviction and long-standing tourism PR expertise.
