Dresden Spring in the Palace 2023

Dresden Spring in the Palace is the most important spring flower show in Germany. Media and public relations activities for the exhibition have again been handled by the German PR agency THIEL Public Relations.

Every two years, at the end of winter and weeks before blossoms return in all their glory to nature and to gardens everywhere, Dresden is the showplace for the most important spring flower show in Germany: Dresden Spring in the Palace. Gardeners, florists, calligraphers and light and sound designers will be mounting a sensuous feast of colours, shapes and fragrances with tens of thousands of plants in the impressive baroque Palace in the Great Garden. Media and public relations activities for the exhibition have again been handled by the Germany-based PR agency THIEL Public Relations.

The concept for the latest showing of the exhibition was developed by designer and calligrapher Bea Berthold from Thuringia. Magnificently-coloured worlds of flowers, gardening rarities, floral arrangements, calligraphy, original baroque sandstone carvings and light and sound designs are effectfully combined.

Dresden Spring in the Palace is a mammoth project: with 40,000 plants it is considered to be one of the top spring flower shows in Germany. Some 20 Saxony garden nurseries have been involved in planning. On the two planting days, about twenty gardeners will be working at the same time and these will be supplemented by florists students from the FM Academy Dresden. The exhibition is supported by the Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen gGmbH – the state administration for castles and gardens.

THIEL Public Relations delivered all media and public relations work as well as the accompanying marketing campaign for the project: planning and management of PR activities, developing the basic press material, setting up the online press area, writing and distribution of press releases, organising and carrying out press dates, concept and initiating of co-operative ventures and much else besides.

TV and radio stations and all other relevant media outlets have been involved. The success was phenomenal: More than 40 000 people have seen the show in only ten days. A new visitor record! ■
